Tidy Towns - Sustainable Communities awards
Keep Australia Beautiful WA encourages Aboriginal communities to enter the 2012 Tidy Towns – Sustainable Communities awards.
The awards recognises community projects that enhance and look after the community and surrounding environment.
Aboriginal communities have been big winners in recent Tidy Towns awards. Karalundi had great success this year. The Midwest-Gascoyne Aboriginal community of Karalundi was awarded a special commendation by the Department of Local Government for its commitment to a whole-of-community approach to litter prevention, maintenance of amenities and caring for the environment. Karalundi also won the highest accolade for General Appearance for the whole of WA.
Regional judging results showed that the Kimberley Aboriginal communities Yakanarra and Loanbun have also been recent winners.
